Perlite (as defined by Oxford Languages) is a form of obsidian characterized by spherlulites formed by cracking of the volcanic glass during cooling, used as insulation or in plant growth media. 

You can use these chunky geological marvels of volcanic glass popcorn:

- With orchid substrates like orchiata and tree fern to make a happy home for your orchids.                  - For rooting media and plant propagation  - Adding to soil mixes etc

Here at Hunter Flytraps we add #3 perlite to our carnivorous plant soil mix.
