Drosera Filiformis Tracyi - Thread leaved sundew

These Sundew capture small and large prey on the dew they produce on their long unfurling leaves. These plants are north American native, Florida. They require plenty of light and sit in (rain, distilled or R.O.) water, like our Venus Flytraps.

Your plant resides within a 3" pot with a velvety layer of either New Zealand Long Fiber Sphagnum Moss or a silky Peat/perlite/sand mixture in water tray with care tag. You may also receive stickers and other possibly shameless self promotional materials.

Filiformis Type Sundew Instructions

Light
Full sun, minimum of 6-10 hours of direct sunlight outdoors. Indoors under lights you'll need 10-12 hours of light. If on a windowsill, East-facing in the summer, South-facing in the winter. Would benefit from supplemental lights when on a windowsill.

Water
Sit in 1 inch of water using a plastic or fully sealed ceramic dish. Use distilled, reverse osmosis or rain water.

Soil
General carnivorous plant soil mix will do but prefer a more sandy mix.
2 parts perlite, 1 part peat, 1 part sand.

Temperature
Try to keep between 40°- 95°F
They can tolerate a short freeze.
Ours have gone down to 17°F and survived.

Dormancy
Filiformis leaves will die off in the late fall and form a hibernaculum for the winter. It looks like a small, scaled, ball. In the spring the leaves will unfurl again.

Notes
You can also feed any indoor plants bloodworms or other insects.
When outdoors they can feed themselves.
