Nepenthes Sanguinea is a tropical pitcher plant native to the highland regions of Peninsular Malaysia and southern Thailand, thriving at elevations between 1,000 and 6,000 feet. While primarily a terrestrial species, it can also grow epiphytically in wet montane forests.  

Appearance & Growth

- A perennial carnivorous plant that can reach up to 18 inches in height.  

- Produces vibrant pitchers in shades of green, yellow, orange, or red, often speckled with red.  

- Pitchers feature prominent wings and an upturned lid.  

- The interior of the pitchers is typically pale green with red speckling.  

- The name *Sanguinea* translates to "blood red."  

Lighting Requirements

- Prefers bright, indirect light indoors and full to partial sun outdoors.  

- Ideal placement: East or west-facing window.  

- Supplemental lighting: LED shop lights with white diodes, providing 12–14 hours of light daily.  

Watering & Humidity

- Requires high humidity (around 60%).  

- Use only distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater.  

- Keep the soil consistently moist—never allow it to dry out.  

Temperature Preferences  

- Daytime temperatures: 70s–80s°F.  

- Nighttime temperatures: 50s–60s°F.  

Soil / Potting Mix 

- Use a well-draining mix of long-fiber sphagnum moss, perlite, and orchid bark.
